Evelyn Hofer (1922-2009) was a prolific photojournalist who focused her attention on city life in America and Europe.

Through her photo-books over the years, she specialized in portraits, race and class struggle. Hofer’s guiding principle – get to know your subject, earn their trust before taking their picture.

A long overdue retrospective of her work in color and black and white is on display at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. For more, please see below.
